Phyllostachys vivax 'Aureocaulis' (aka Greenstripe Vivax, Golden Vivax): A running timber bamboo with green striped gold colored canes. When grown in the ground in California over a long time-frame (i.e. 15+ years) the canes can grow as large as 5 inches in diameter and 60+ feet tall. When grown in confined spaces or in containers it will not grow that large unless full sized canes are brought in and planted. Cold tolerant down to 5 degrees F.
